The second annual Tournament of Champions for girls' volleyball will take place October 21-23 in Phoenix, Arizona. After hosting 36 teams from seven states in its first year, the Tournament of Champions is expected to increase to 64 teams from across the nation in 2011.
Since its inception as a basketball event in California in 1996, the Tournament of Champions has hosted more than 16,000 student athletes from 41 states and Canada, and publications from the USA Today to ESPN have described the event as "staggering" and "unparalleled."
The Tournament of Champions has been conducted in the Phoenix Metro area since 2001, and is co-sponsored by Chandler High School and the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD). It is sanctioned by and through the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) and the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).
