The NIKE Tournament of Champions (July 10-12, Chicago, IL) is universally considered the most prestigious basketball event in the world.
Occupying almost one million square feet inside of Chicago's McCormick Place, the 2017 tournament will host 752 teams and more than 10,000 athletes and coaches from all 50 United States and every Canadian province. This will make it the largest single venue basketball event in the world, and the largest in the history of men's or women's basketball.
New for 2017 will be the appearance of NIKE Nationals - the championship event of the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) which will bring all 32 NIKE sponsored teams to Chicago to play alongside the 720 teams in the Tournament of Champions.
Given the combined star power of the Tournament of Champions and NIKE Nationals, the event is expected to attract more college basketball coaches than any event in history, even exceeding the 811 coaches who registered for the 2016 event.
Chicago is the #2 tourist destination in the United States and one of the top tourist destinations in the world. McCormick Place - the site of the 2017 Tournament and NIKE Nationals - is the largest convention center in North America and stands on the shore of Lake Michigan and just minutes from downtown Chicago.
In order to accommodate the massive scale of the event, 76 regulation size basketball courts will be constructed in McCormick's South Hall. All told, as many as 18,000 spectators can attend the 760 games being played each day, with 152 teams competing simultaneously at any given time.
